The official way to install an app onto an Android device is via the Google Play Store. There are times when you wish to install something that isn’t available there. This is often the case with devices running old versions of Android as the Play Store only offers the latest versions which may need a more modern OS. This is a process called ‘Sideloading.’
Firstly you need to go to Settings > Security on your device and tick or slide the switch to “Allow installing non-Play Store applications” or “Allow installation of apps from unknown sources.”
Now you need to get hold of the app you want as an APK file.
When you’ve got that copy it to your device, it doesn’t matter where you put it so long as you remember.
Now using the device's file manager locate the APK and tap it. This will then install it.
You can now delete the APK, if you want to, and switch off the “Allow installation of apps from unknown sources.”
