Despite what the title says this pattern is clearly for a Cap Comforter, even though the model is wearing it sideways.
I’ll take pity on those poor unfortunates who only speak metric and tell them that No 10 needles are 2.25mm, 4 oz is 114g, an inch is 25.4cm so 8” is near enough 20cm (20.32cm to be exact) and 36” 90cm (91.44cm). As for the amount of wool, 100g would probably be enough and if it comes out a bit short it isn’t going to really matter.
Not that it’s relevant but “9d. per oz.” translates as 3.75p per 28.4g. Good luck getting three-ply wool at that price eighty years on! Actually if wool had gone up exactly by the official rate of inflation it would be £2.10 an ounce today.
