Blocking Adverts
Adverts are the curse of Android. It’s all well and good the developers saying this is how they make their money but why is it that there are plenty of people writing programs for Windows and Linux for no financial reward? Some apps are so riddled with adverts as to be rendered useless.
There are browsers available that block adverts on web-sites but those that appear within apps are a different matter.
There is an app available called AdAway that does it but it will only work on rooted devices.
Obviously Google don’t want you to block adverts so it isn’t available from the Play Store: you have to download it as an APK file and sideload it.
People have compiled lists of the servers that produce the adverts and AdAway downloads these and then stops the device from connecting to them.
