µA741/EL84 Amplifier
The µA741 with transistor output amplifier worked very well but adequately heat-sinking the transistors was a challenge. I was thinking that they were nearly as hot as a valve and that gave me an idea . . .
There are separate PCBs for the amplifier and the HT rectifier details of which can be found here. The output stage is easily wired point-to-point.
This combination seems to be a marriage made in Heaven as 741s' gain falls off at high frequencies whereas pentodes tend to scream — which is why audiophools will pay a king's ransom for obsolete output triodes. Using them together seems to cancel these 'faults' out.
