Educational Memoirs
I recently found, lurking in a dark corner of my hard disk, some memoirs I wrote years ago of my school and college days. I thought I may as well put them up here for what they are worth, which isn't much.
I attended Dobcroft First and Middle Schools from 1975-82. These are still open but are now known as Dobcroft Infant and Junior Schools. As well as my memories I also include some photographs and the Middle School's Information for Parents booklet from 1978.
I then went to Abbeydale Grange Comprehensive until 1986. This closed in 2010 and has now been demolished.
After leaving there I attended Granville College of Further Education for two years. After I left this became Castle College and in 2014 Northside, where I was, was knocked down.
I ended my education at Norton College. I did start to write about that but lost the will after the first two terms. I revisited them again in 2004 but found it deeply unsettling; in fact it triggered some sort of near break-down and I've never dared to look at them since. I do have a sort of record of my remaining time there in the form of letters I sent to an old school friend while he was at university. The college closed at the end of the 2014-15 academic year and that too has been flattened and the site is now the St James Shopping Centre.
All these documents are offered as is. They are only as historically accurate as my memory and opinions expressed therein are mine and mine alone.
